As it is generally known that in the past five years, the national zakat management has experienced rapid development in various aspects, especially in the aspect of collecting zakat. It has increased quite significantly from year to year.
BAZNAS noted that nationally in the 2015-2019 period, the collection of zakat increased by 64%. It is recorded from 3.5 trillion rupiahs in 2015 to 10 trillion rupiahs in 2019.
This achievement is certainly the result of the hard work of all zakat stakeholders in Indonesia, both BAZNAS and LAZ. The zakat stakeholders deserve the appreciation for such an achievement.
However, this achievement is certainly still far from the existing potential zakat figures. Puskas BAZNAS noted that the potential for zakat in Indonesia in 2019 reached 233.84 trillion rupiahs and what we have achieved today is still in the range of 4% of the existing potential.
