
As part of a series of events to celebrate the National Board of Zakat’s (BAZNAS) 21st Anniversary, BAZNAS held a National Seminar on the Indonesian Zakat Outlook of 2022. This event was a hybrid event and was streamed live through the BAZNASTV Youtube Channel, Tuesday (18/01/2022).
The national seminar discussed matters regarding the kaleidoscope of zakat management in 2021 such as the conditions of zakat management during the pandemic, the overall performance of zakat management, the development and research on national zakat, and the challenges and opportunities within national zakat management in 2022.
The target audience for the national seminar on the Indonesian Zakat Outlook are zakat collaborators, zakat practitioners, zakat academicians, zakat researchers, the general public, and other relevant zakat stakeholders. The results of the discussions during the seminar are expected to become references for future zakat regulations and implementations.
The National Seminar on the Indonesian Zakat Outlook 2022 was officially opened through a Keynote Speech from the Director General of the Islamic Community who is also the BAZNAS Commissioner, Prof. Dr. Phil. H. Kamaruddin Amin who also represented the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
“Congratulations on BAZNAS’s 21st Anniversary, we hope BAZNAS can become stronger and spread even more contribution for the ummah, InsyaAllah together with our help and support,” he said.
Prof Dr. KH. Noor Achmad, MA who is the BAZNAS Chairman, delivered the second keynote speech. Prof Noor hopes that the National Seminar on the Indonesian Zakat Outlook 2022 will deliver recommendations which can be implemented throughout zakat management with hopes that the collection, distribution, and empowerment of zakat funds can create security for the community, specifically for the mustahiq in the midst of the pandemic and also create opportunities for the prosperity of the mustahik.
“We also hope that this event can help support and increase zakat literacy within the community,” explained Prof. Noor.
A total of 100 participants attended the event live at the KH M Rasjidi Auditorium at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Furthermore, the event was attended by over 500 participants online through the Zoom Meetings platform. The participants who attended the meeting were from regional BAZNAS offices, LAZ, academicians from various universities, and from the general public.
The BAZNAS Board of Commissioner also attended the event to bring their insights regarding zakat management to the audience of the seminar. The Vice Chairman of BAZNAS, Mokhamad Mahdum SE, MIDEc, AK, CA, CPA, CWM delivered the third keynote speech which discussed the challenges and opportunities within the control of zakat management in 2022. This event was divided into two panel sessions.
The first panel session featured the BAZNAS Commissioner, Rizaludin Kurniawan, M.Si who discussed the strategies in zakat collection while the BAZNAS Commissioner Ibu Saidah Sakwan, MA discussed the strategies on zakat distribution in 2022. Further on, the final speaker during the first panel session, BAZNAS Commissioner K.H Ahmad Sudrajat Lc, MA delivered materials on strategies towards strengthening the zakat management ecosystem in 2022.
Meanwhile, the second panel session invited the rest of the BAZNAS Commissioner such as Ir. Muhammad Nadratuzzaman Hosen, Ph.D, Dr. Zainulbahar, SE, M.EC, and Kolonel (Purn) Drs. Nur Chamdani which presented materials on the digital readiness of zakat management, strengthening research for zakat development, and the challenges and opportunities within the development of human resources of zakat management in 2022.
